Every OpenCase MagSafe Case's "open" space is exactly the same size (96 mm tall x 65 mm wide x 9 mm rounded corners). This opening creates a lip around MagSafe accessories to prevent them from sliding around or shearing off. It also makes the combination of phone case plus accessory thinner and lighter, because the accessory sits "inside" the case (not on top of it) and there's no material between the accessory and the phone. And finally, removing that material reveals the bare iPhone which allows for easy access to optimized MagSafe charging with nothing in the way (the way Apple recommends).
Although our opening has never changed, sometimes, third party MagSafe accessories change the size of their products. With the news that Apple made their iPhone Wallet with MagSafe just a touch too tall for OpenCase and the holiday season swiftly approaching, we decided to do another round of product testing for compatibility. When we did this last time in January 2025, we tested 18 products. This time, we decided to look at 30 products from mobile industry giants, like Moft, Peak Design, Casely, Anker, Otterbox, Spigen, PopSocket and more. There's some retesting of some of the most popular items, just to make sure they still fit, but we also shake it up with some new products as well. Our goals are to help customers, like you, figure out whether your favorite MagSafe accessories will fit in the "opening" of OpenCase, and attend to the questions that you ask the most, whether it's a specific product fit, like with Plaud, or a more general question like, "Which batteries fit in an OpenCase?"
Obviously, we don't have any control over the size of other companies' MagSafe accessories. They could change them at any time. But, we do believe that one of the fun things about MagSafe is discovering new products, continuing to use old favorites, and figuring out your ultimate everyday carry set-up. Those products may be some of ours, which are always guaranteed to fit, but they may be from another brand. And that's what makes OpenCase special, it's always our intent to create a mostly flexible MagSafe system that allows you to mix and match to meet your needs.
