At OpenCase, my wife and I often find ourselves needing to make decisions about our product line without knowing anything about the products they are designed to support. In other words, Apple doesn't contact every phone case company and tell us what's coming next. I can't speak for the big guys, but we learn about the final specs when you do. As the rumors circulated about the new features of the iPhone 17e, we had one thing on our minds. Would it have MagSafe? As some of you know, the iPhone16e did not have MagSafe.
While we waited to find out, I got to work on prototype cases for the iPhone 17e. Y'know, just in case. And I thought about the feedback we've gotten from users of our cases across the board. In the end, there were two things I wanted to offer to our iPhone 17e case customers--a more affordable case for a more affordable phone and a larger "open" space to accommodate even more MagSafe accessories. And I'm pleased to share that we've accomplished both of these objectives with our new case.

Lucky for us, the iPhone 17e does have MagSafe! And thus, we are pleased that all that thinking and testing was not without purpose. We added the iPhone 17e case to our online store today.
So, how is the iPhone 17e case different than our other cases?
- It uses a different leatherette material. It offers a similar durability, but has a slightly less premium look and feel.
- Instead of a metal camera surround, it has a plastic camera surround.
- Measuring in at 98 mm tall x 66 mm wide x 5 mm rounded corners, it's "open" space is a little larger.
- It costs ~30% less than our other cases. And yet, it retains the full protection, same functionality and very close to same quality.
We hope it's a good balance for iPhone 17e users. It still ends shearing off and sliding around accessories, is thinner and lighter, optimizes wireless charging and more. We're excited to share it with you and encourage you to check it out.
