Wireless Charging for Car

Wireless Charging with Nothing in the Way

When I created OpenCase, I wanted to create a thinner, lighter iPhone case that would end sliding around and shearing off accessories. Over time, I would discover additional benefits to our unique patented phone case. And today, one of the most standout is that the OpenCase MagSafe Case's design supports optimized wireless charging. In this post, I'll give you all the details.

How to Optimize Wireless Charging

I can never say enough how much our business benefits from the relationship that we have with users. From customers to influencers to folks in the media, we learn so much about our product through their experiences. And we appreciate it! In the early days of OpenCase, it was pointed out to us that removing the material between the phone and the wireless charger was a major benefit of our patented MagSafe case's design, because it would create the conditions for optimized wireless charging.

For the uninitiated, when you pair an iPhone with a traditional MagSafe case and place it on a wireless charger, the electromagnetic induction process is hampered. In Apple's instructions for How to wirelessly charge your iPhone, they state "don't place anything between your iPhone and the charger", because "magnetic cases, or other objects between your iPhone and the charger might reduce performance." The phone case creates distance between the iPhone and the wireless charger, which in turn can impact the quality of the charge.

When you use an OpenCase MagSafe Case with a wireless charger, you're not only following Apple's advice, but you're getting all the benefits that come with it, including:

  • Faster time to usable charge
  • Less heat buildup during charging
  • More reliable MagSafe alignment
  • Better performance with with wireless charging, including battery packs, charging stands, car charging mounts

This comes down to the fact that, unlike other traditional phone cases, with an OpenCase MagSafe Case there is nothing in the way.
