MagSafe Wallets

Are MagSafe Wallets Worth It?

With its sleek design and magnetic convenience, are MagSafe wallets worth your hard-earned cash? They absolutely can be! In this post, we'll break down the benefits, answer some common questions, and see why this nifty accessory could be a great addition for your iPhone.

What’s the Buzz About MagSafe Wallets?

Inside the back of every iPhone 12-16 is a series of magnets. While they were put there to ensure charging alignment (you can read more about MagSafe here), they also make it possible to attach magnetic accessories to the back of your phone!

MagSafe wallets are designed to magnetically attach to the back of your iPhone 12-16, providing an easy way to carry your cards without the bulk of a traditional wallet. The design is minimalist; making it a stylish choice for those who prefer a streamlined look. Plus, they quickly comes off for easy access to wireless charging! Popular brands include Apple, Moft, Bellroy, Spigen, and more. We also make one at OpenCase.

Do MagSafe Wallets Fall Off?

One of the biggest things that holds iPhone users back from getting a MagSafe wallet is their concern that it will fall off. If you're pairing your wallet with a bare iPhone or using a traditional MagSafe case, you run the risk of it sliding or moving around, especially when moving it in and out of pockets or leaving it inside a bag. This is actually one of the biggest reasons I invented the OpenCase™ MagSafe Case, to provide more security and almost completely eliminate this concern.

Will MagSafe Erase Credit Cards?

Because MagSafe is a magnet, won't it erase your credit cards? According to Apple, you shouldn't place your cards directly between the iPhone and your phone case. You also shouldn't place your cards between your iPhone and a MagSafe charger. So, no, it's not recommended to have your credit cards near the MagSafe magnets.

On the other hand, it's totally fine to use a MagSafe wallet to store your cards and attach to your iPhone 12-16. The magnetic wallets have a protective layer between the magnets and your cards, so you can rest assured they are completely shielded. Unless you place them on the magnetic side of the wallet, you're good to go.

Are MagSafe Wallets Safe?

When it comes to safety, MagSafe wallets shine bright. Ensuring that they can withstand daily wear and tear, they’re often made with durable materials. And they offer a range of designs from completely protective clamshell to popsocket wallets to wallets with origami stands and more. They seem to fit every lifestyle and need.

If you use an Apple MagSafe wallet, it offers an alert when it's is disconnected to tell you the exact location it detached. However, if your wallet goes somewhere else after it disconnects, it is not traceable. And there are some exceptions to compatibility, like with an iPhone 12 Clear Case.

The biggest piece around how safe the MagSafe wallet performs has to do with finding the right synergy between the user, the wallet and the case (or no case at all).

The Bottom Line

So, are MagSafe wallets worth it? Absolutely! In our, obviously slightly biased, opinion they provide convenience, style, and a great way to declutter your pockets or bags. Whether you’re a minimalist or simply someone who enjoys easy access to wirelessly charging your phone or the convenience of switching between accessories, the MagSafe wallet is a fantastic addition to your iPhone ecosystem.

If you’re ready to simplify your life while keeping your cards safe and sound, give the MagSafe wallet a whirl! With its practical design and robust functionality, it just might become the iPhone accessory you didn’t know you were missing.
